Marie has always been the “good” twin. Although she's only five years old, memories of her previous life in Japan have given her the maturity to understand when she should compromise. Unfortunately, her selfish twin sister Lily has learned to take advantage of that. Whenever Marie receives something, Lily wants it. Whenever the sisters argue, their parents expect Marie to give in because she's the more reasonable child. After years of being told to endure it for her sister's sake, Marie has learned that complaining accomplishes nothing. Then, on their fifth birthday, the twins receive the divine blessings that will determine their magical abilities. Marie is supposed to receive the extraordinarily valuable blessing of the Light Spirit, a power that could one day make her a Saintess. Lily decides she wants that too. Somehow, simply by grabbing her sister and demanding the blessing for herself, Lily steals it. For Marie, that's finally enough. Rather than scream, fight or beg her parents to take her side, the eerily composed five-year-old announces that she refuses to live with Lily any longer. She hires the passing S-rank adventurer party known as the Black Dragon and sets out for the Royal Capital, where her grandfather lives. But the journey gives Marie something far more valuable than the blessing she lost. The adventurers protecting her don't treat her needs as inconveniences. They teach her, worry about her, praise her and gradually realize just how abnormal Marie's supposedly “mature” behavior really is. For the first time, she's surrounded by adults who allow her to actually behave like a child. Meanwhile, the Church discovers what happened to the girl who should have possessed the Light Spirit's blessing and desperately begins searching for her, while Lily's increasingly selfish behavior sends the twins down very different paths. A heartwarming fantasy about two sisters whose lives diverge after one steals the other's blessing, and a neglected little girl who leaves her old family behind only to gradually discover what having a real family is supposed to feel like.
