From the author's afterword As much as I wanted to make a manga version of "Les Misérables", I didn't want to spoil the story with a digest-like finish. . I wanted to cover as many episodes as possible, and to achieve a level of perfection that has never been seen before, with a full-fledged portrayal of the human group in Les Misérables, neither "Ah, the heartless'' nor "The Story of Cosette.'' Of course, it is a tightly packed paperback with 2,500 pages, so the beautiful episodes spilling out from between my fingers was amazing, and I was left with tears of frustration and a feeling of disgust. (...) I didn't forcefully twist the original work. I moved the surface as I wanted, but I tried to keep the spirit of the original work in mind.
