The portrait of a girl in 60s -70s in Japan. Maria depicts the chaotic trajectory of a wealthy girl, whose family made a fortune in the after war. New arrival in a school of girls, Maria is independent and indomitable. She sleeps indifferently with girls or boys, and causes confusion among students as well as teachers, attracting fights and disasters. With Maria, the story of a teenager in 70's Japan, master Kazuo Kamimura tackles the taboos of his time.
