Synopsis

Japan just after the war, with the scars of war still vividly visible. With no parents, siblings or anyone else to rely on, war orphans formed a group to survive, living from day to day. One day, the group's leader, Gaki, rescued a girl who was involved in trouble and welcomed her into his group. Gaki gradually changes under the influence of the girl. He even takes extreme actions, even hurting people and stealing things, but one day, the girl suddenly has an accident... This is a collection of short stories depicting the humanism of Japan's high economic growth period, including the title story "Akutare" by Masaoka Toshiya, who also wrote the film "Dabo Shirt no Ten"!
