Synopsis

In 1943 (Showa 18), the three elephants of Ueno Zoo , John, Tonky, and Wanly, were destroyed in an air raid, and they were disposed of for fear of harming people if they escaped. However, even after trying poison, the delicate elephant did not accept the poisoned food (potatoes). After anguish, the director chose to starve the elephants to death.
